For 30 years, the Wellborn Community Association has organized the annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival, a Suwannee County summer event that grows bigger and better each year. This beloved festival typically kicks off in early June at Andrew’s Square with a pancake breakfast, followed by a day of enjoying more than 100 vendors, live music, a children’s corner, and plenty of blueberry-themed treats. Join the celebration of the area’s favorite fruit!
Each year, the Wellborn Blueberry Festival has grown, bringing an ever-expanding lineup of events and activities for all to enjoy. In addition to the crowd-favorite blueberry pancake breakfast, festival highlights include a car show, parade, live entertainment, a children’s corner with games and a petting zoo, and access to the Country Store, where visitors can find homemade pies, cobblers, jams, jellies, and syrups.
In addition to their monthly meets at the Wellborn Community Center, the Suwannee River Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America hosts the People’s Choice Car Show at the Blueberry Festival. A major attraction for automobile enthusiasts, the show features a lineup of vintage, custom, and rare collector vehicles. Entrants also have the chance to take home top honors, including Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Best Hot Rod, Best Truck, and Best Original/Restored.
One of the most popular attractions in the children’s corner is the petting zoo, where kids of all ages can meet a variety of animals, from pigs to goats — and even a camel!
Beyond the petting zoo, the children’s corner traditionally features beloved pony rides, offering a memorable experience for young riders.
While every attendee has their favorite part of the festival, you can’t go wrong with the variety of blueberry-themed treats! One of the biggest draws is the blueberry pancake breakfast, presented by the Wellborn Community Association, which also hosts a monthly all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast at the community center on the first Saturday of each month. Due to its popularity, the festival’s pancake breakfast spans three locations — Wellborn Baptist Church, the Wellborn Community Association Center, and behind the fire station near the Country Store. Speaking of the Country Store, it’s a must-visit, offering an array of delectable treats, including jams, jellies, pies, cobblers and ice cream. Need even more of a blueberry fix? Stroll through the vendor booths for an assortment of blueberry-themed goodies, from refreshing drinks to decadent desserts!
Planning to attend this year’s Blueberry Festival? Admission to this annual event is free! Parking is available at the Wellborn Masonic Lodge, and for added convenience, a free shuttle is available from Wellborn Baptist Church to the festival grounds. While in Wellborn, take time to explore other local attractions. Visit Hearthstone Gardens, a 35-acre botanical experience with free admission, open daily and pet-friendly. For a bite to eat, stop by Wellborn’s Country Charm, a nearby restaurant known for its homestyle cooking and the perfect place to refuel after a day of play.
