Effective October 11, 2024: The 406 restaurant is permanently closed due to storm damage sustained during Hurricane Helene.
The 406 is located in a large, Greek Revival-style home that was initially built in 1896 by Thomas Dowling, a lumber and railroad entrepreneur. The building underwent a major restoration with help from Florida’s Division of Historical Resources, saving the home from demolition. Keeping most of its historical aspects, the building was converted into a restaurant for the community to enjoy while creating everlasting memories and connections.
The building now stands as the home of The 406 restaurant and venue, and offers a wide range of southern cuisine with an upscale twist. It holds fine dining rooms, casual barside seating, an outdoor deck overlooking the originally planted gardens, and is able to host as a venue for special events. With custom-crafted cocktails, an exclusive selection of bourbons & whiskeys, and blends of charm from past and present, The 406 makes for a delectable experience all around. The second floor has been turned into a speakeasy!
If it’s interesting, relevant or just plain awesome and it’s happening in Suwannee County, we’ll make sure to tell you all about it!
